1. Introduction

RoamTribe ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our community app for travelers, and your choices regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

Account and profile. When you sign in (e.g., with Google or Apple), we receive your email address and display name (or Apple identifier) to create and maintain your account.

Profile information. We store your profile data including nickname, travel style, roadmap (past/future destinations), photos (up to 3), and location/region information (optional) to help you connect with other travelers.

Location data. Location sharing is optional. If enabled, we use approximate location to show nearby travelers. You can also manually select your region without sharing precise location.

Matches and messages. We store your matches, chat messages, and interaction history to facilitate connections and sync across devices.

Events. If you create or join events, we store event details, participant information, and event chat messages.

Usage and diagnostics. We may collect anonymous or aggregated usage data and error logs to improve the app and fix issues.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: provide matching and discovery features; sync your data across devices; facilitate events and community features; process subscriptions and purchases; secure your account; moderate content and enforce community guidelines; and improve our services.

4. Data Storage and Retention

Your data is stored on our servers (and, where applicable, with our service providers). We retain your account and app data until you delete your account or request deletion. After account deletion, we remove your data as described in our account deletion flow.

5. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with: (a) service providers that help us operate the app (e.g., hosting, analytics, push notifications, payments, mapping); (b) other users as needed for matching, messaging, and events (e.g., matched users see your profile, event participants see event details); (c) authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You can access and update your profile in the app. You can control location sharing (optional), delete matches, leave events, and block or report users. You may request deletion of your entire account and associated data at any time from Settings; once completed, your data will be removed from our systems.

Depending on your region, you may have additional rights (e.g., access, portability, correction, restriction, objection). Contact us using the details below to exercise them.

6.1. Delete Account

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through the Profile page within the app. To initiate account deletion, navigate to the Profile page and select the "Delete Account" option. Upon submission of your deletion request, your account will be scheduled for deletion, and all associated data will be permanently removed from our systems after a 30-day grace period. During this 30-day period, you may cancel the deletion request by logging back into your account. After the 30-day period expires, account deletion is irreversible, and all data associated with your account will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we encourage you to use a strong password, keep your device secure, and be cautious when sharing personal information with other users.

8. Children

Our service is not directed at children under 13 (or higher where required). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes in the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using RoamTribe ("the app" or "the service"), you agree to these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the app. Your use of the app after any change to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

RoamTribe provides a community platform for travelers (van lifers, RV travelers, digital nomads, hitchhikers) to find like-minded people nearby, connect through mutual matches, participate in events, and share travel roadmaps. Some features may require a subscription or in-app purchase.

3. Account and Eligibility

You must create an account (e.g., via Google or Apple sign-in) to use the service. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of consent in your jurisdiction) to use the service.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the app only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not: use the app to harass, abuse, or harm others; create fake profiles or misrepresent yourself; misuse location features; spam or send unsolicited messages; upload malicious code or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data; resell or redistribute the service; or use the app in any way that could damage, disable, or overburden our infrastructure.

We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law. Multiple valid reports may result in permanent ban.

5. Your Content and Data

You retain ownership of the content you create (e.g., profile information, messages, roadmaps). By using the service, you grant us the rights necessary to store, process, sync, and display your content and to facilitate matching and events. Our use of your data is described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

Certain features may require a paid subscription or one-time purchase. Payment is processed through the applicable app store (Apple App Store, Google Play). Refunds and cancellations are governed by the store's policies. We may change subscription offerings and pricing with notice; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

7. Intellectual Property

The app, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the app or use our trademarks without permission.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is." We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we are not liable for matches, messages, or events that are delayed, missed, or not delivered. You use the app at your own risk. We do not verify the identity or background of users. You are responsible for your own safety when meeting other users in person.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we (and our affiliates, directors, and employees) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app or these Terms. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or, if none, one hundred dollars).

10. Termination and Account Deletion

You may stop using the app at any time. You may delete your account and associated data at any time from the app's Settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or for other operational or legal reasons, with notice where practicable.

Upon termination, your right to use the app ceases. We will remove or anonymize your data as described in our Privacy Policy and account deletion flow.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes in the app or by email. Your continued use after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the app and may delete your account.

Our Commitment

RoamTribe is committed to protecting children and maintaining a safe environment for all users. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on our platform.

Definitions

Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) refers to any content or behavior that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers children. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Grooming a child for sexual exploitation
  • Sextorting a child
  • Trafficking of a child for sex
  • Any other form of sexual exploitation of a child

Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) refers to any visual depiction, including photos, videos, or computer-generated imagery, involving the use of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. CSAM is illegal and strictly prohibited on RoamTribe.

Age Requirement

RoamTribe is strictly for users aged 18 and older. Users must verify they are at least 18 years old during account creation. We do not knowingly allow minors to use our platform. Any account found to belong to a minor will be immediately terminated.

Prohibited Content and Behavior

The following are strictly prohibited on RoamTribe:

  • Any content or behavior that exploits, abuses, or endangers children
  • Sharing, creating, or distributing CSAM
  • Soliciting or attempting to solicit sexual content from minors
  • Grooming or attempting to groom minors
  • Any communication or interaction with minors for sexual purposes
  • Impersonating a minor or creating accounts for minors

Reporting Mechanisms

RoamTribe provides multiple ways for users to report concerns about child safety:

In-App Reporting: Use the report function available on all user profiles, messages, and content. Reports are reviewed immediately by our moderation team. All reports related to child safety are prioritized and escalated.

Email Reporting: Contact our child safety team directly at: safety@roamtribe.app. Include as much detail as possible, including screenshots and user IDs. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours.

Emergency Situations: If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement immediately. Do not wait to report through our platform. Contact emergency services: 911 (US) or your local emergency number.

Our Response to Reports

When we receive reports related to child safety:

  1. Immediate Action: Accounts reported for CSAE or CSAM are immediately suspended pending investigation
  2. Investigation: All reports are thoroughly investigated by our safety team
  3. Content Removal: Any CSAM or CSAE-related content is immediately removed from our platform
  4. Account Termination: Accounts found to violate child safety standards are permanently banned
  5. Law Enforcement: We cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies and report suspected CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant authorities
  6. Prevention: We use automated detection systems and manual review processes to identify and prevent harmful content

Legal Compliance

RoamTribe complies with all applicable child safety laws, including:

  • The PROTECT Act (US)
  • The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)
  • International laws prohibiting CSAM and CSAE
  • All local and regional child protection regulations

We maintain records of reports and actions taken as required by law and cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations.
